re: sniff sniff

First of all thanks to Phil, Chris and John.

Well the car is still not running, but it has been. Basically it was made
to run by removing the top off the Air Mass Sensor, and manually pulling
up the metal plate a little bit. So the theory is, that for some reason
the plate is not being pulled up far enough when trying to start the
engine. Does this rule out the fuse problem with the ECU?
So my next attempt was to put it all back together and blank off the
breather pipe and see if it would run......NO (I didnt take off the
'iccle' vacuum control pipe, thinking it would not be enough to stop the
engine running though.
So off with the top of the air mass sensor again.

To me, the strength required to pull the metal plate up is quite a lot.
Basically you can only just pull it up by holding the nut in the middle
with your fingers, but you can't hold it for long. Any idea if this is
too strong?

Thanks again
