The reason they are banned is that although the material is safe as a
lump,the dust produced under frictional conditions is highly toxic,and
believed to be a carcenogen.They were going to insist on iron discs,but such
has the development of Carbon Metallic pads come along,the increased braking
distances that iron discs were expected to bring,just wouldn't materialise.
