I'm new to the Quattro list, so here is my intro. Bought my 87 4000Q new
in 86, thought I'd keep it till the 90 arrived, but I still have it. The
car is great! I want the A4 2.8 five valve. The 4000Q has 138k on it now
and I've never changed the timing belt or clutch. After much discussion in
the Quattro Club, it seems sort of a concensus that the belts on the 5
cylinders don't need to be changed, but that it is critical on the V8,
which is an interference engine.

Is there anyone out there with extra visors to sell for the 4000? On a
very hot day in LA, the visor welded itself to the visor rod and wouldn't
pull down. The ball that mounts to the headliner then crumbled like a
cookie. I'd like to get the whole visor with ball and small plastic
mounting plate.

Someone mentioned replacement exhausts. I'd recommend checking with
Imparts in St. Louis. I got a replacement for much less than stock, with
very good quality. Had it installed very cheap at an independent muffler
shop. As for tires, I too tried Dunlops, went back to Michelins. I've
heard the Pirelli p4000 is also excellent. Anyone with really high-mileage
on a 4000?
