Hi all, long time no see.
Well, it really happened to me. Three times so far. My 5000 suddenly
accelerated on its own. Honest.
The first two times were on the highway. No cruise control on (doesn't
work), and all of a sudden the it lurched up and accelerated full
throttle for about 3-5 seconds, when the turbo kicked in I really flew.
The third time was last night with the car idling... from roughly 800 rpm
the engine started racing and hit about 2,500 for a few seconds, then
calmly slowed down back to idle speed.
Anyone want to buy a 5000 Cd turbo, cheap? :-)
Any ideas on why this is happening? I've had the car for two years and
it's never done anything like this before. Please reply to me as I am
not on the listserve at this time.

To make a diesel engine rev faster feed it more fuel, it
really doesn't care if that fuel comes from the fuel tank
or from the crankcase.
This is not an Audi thing, this is a diesel thing.
A) The engine is overfilled with oil.
B) The air filter is cloggeg so it's sucking crankcase air and
bringing engine oil with it.
C) An internal part failure is letting a lot of engine oil get into the
combustion chamber.
D) If it "Get's away" it will suck more & more oil untill
it hydraulic locks. ( See U-Boat thread )
