Coolant temperature sender

Audiites,

I'm experiencing a cold start problem in my '85 GT at the moment.
The car has 150k on it and has had the following replaced recently:

-Thermotime switch
-cold start valve
-idle stabilizer valve
-spark plugs, cap, rotors, wires
-ignition coil

Mind you, these all weren't replaced at once. I've gone through the
Bentley and have done their perscribe tests and all appear within
spec. Plus, vacuum appears ok as does fuel pressure.

Now, once the car has started, it runs fine. It just takes a few
turns of the key and then it runs. I've followed some threads in the
archives and have followed some of the suggestions of things to check,
like air meter (it checks out fine as well).

I'm stuck.

One question though, is going through the Bentley, it references
two coolant temp sensors as part of the CIS. This is on section
25.147. It gives fault code 2312 (I have no way of pulling this),
and says that even though they are independant of each other, if one
goes bad, both have to be replaced. Why am I thinking of these?
Well, one looks REALLY in a sad state, which I think was caused by
a leaking coolant hose I also recently replaced (BTW, the "GATES"
hoses don't come close to fitting......). This is the one on the
bottom of the "sender housing" on the side of the cylinder head.
The leak looks like it's done some damagae to the elecrical
connector also. Would this contribute to the cold start
problem?

Any ideas, or am I wasting another errant thought again?

Thanks for any help,
