Coupe GT Paint prices(long, but help please)
OK everyone, i know that some of you may think that i am an idiot,
but i have the opportunity of a lifetime (well kinda i suppose) to get my
car painted, with no labor charged. My friend (not the stubborn one) is
finishing up a class on engines and body work and has gotten excellent
grades on all of his paint samples that he has prepared. He knows that i
have very little money, and he knows as well that i need a new paint job
on my car, as when i got into my little accident a few years ago, the guy
who painted it did less than a stellar job. He has therefore offered to
paint it for free as long as i supply the paint. He already has the
spray gun and a garage where he can do it. I have yet to see his paint
samples, and i know that i should look at them first. First of all, what
do you think of this? If he is as good as he claims he is, then i think
that he can do a more than adequate job. And i also know that he will
put alot of time and effort into this job as we are very good friends and
he truly likes my car. I am not worried about the effort that he will
put into the job, so that automatically puts him above Maaco and their
200 dollar paint jobs...He will put alot more time into it than they
will. Ok, so my first question is, what do you think of this idea?
Next is the idea of which paint to get. He tells me that a urethane
paint, while it doesn not look quite as good as the factory enamel, is
very, very strong. That is a major plus obviously. But i have noticed
as well that the tornado red that is used on the 85 Coupe (which is what
i have) stands up very, very well to weather and time. So, for that
reason, and based on the fact that it is an incredible red, i was
wondering how much the cost is on the factory paint..I am sure that it
will be at least a few hundred dollars...but i would really, really
appreciate any feedback on this that can be given. Thanks in advance to
everyone for reading to this point. Talk to you later.
Sincerely,
Mike Williams
