I spotted that after it went ...

But then I thought it was quite reasonable.

Ho hum. Off to the garage now, to reset the idle on the MB. My replacement of
the hydraulic lifters naturally included a replacement of the camshaft oil
seal, and it turns out that the old one was pretty leaky - so the mixture at
idle is now a lot richer than it was and the poor thing is struggling. It's
done 150 miles now, so the lifters should be bedded in as well as they'll ever
be.

Compressions all measure well. In fact, excellent for 140k miles.

So I'm going out to do a "back to basics" reset of the idle. Ho hum. At least
it's warm and dry outside. Salmon en croute first, though, with a decent
Chablis. I'll try and do an ASCII art of the MB's fool injection system - it's
puzzling me more than somewhat. I've got Sanburn looking for some odd bits for
me, so I can try a few tricks on Saturday.
