A V5 engine is not so far-fetched as it seems... At least not so
if the Vee-angle is a narrow 15 degrees.
VW is introducing a new VR5 engine on its new models (4th-generation
Golf/Vento, perhaps other models too). It's basically the VR6 with
one of its cylinders missing. It makes for an ultra-compact 2.3 liter
motor that makes 150hp, suitable for transverse-mount use with room
to spare...
