S4 (20V Turbo) Performance Exhaust

Just thought I would solicit some general advice re: a performance exhaust
for my
94 S4 (I have already contacted some of you privately). I currently have the
following mods: latest MTM Chips/3.0 Bar Sensor ECU mod from Hoppen (just
came out 3/97) - it is awesome - runs up to 24psig of max. overboost for a
few seconds using stock K24 turbo and then gradually/progressively backs off
boost into the teens (you only get this kind of boost if you hammer it); RS2
exhaust manifold; K&N Cone filter kit w/ modified heat sheild (Shaumberg);
SAMCO sport lower intercooler hose (TAP); Bilstein strut/Eibach Spring
suspension (Sport Wheels - Glenwood Springs, CO), and unplugged electrical
steering assist for better raod feel.

Anyways, I have been looking into a performance exhaust to possibly upgrade
the stock system's flow/sound characteristics. FYI - the stock system is a
single 2.5" or 2.75" downpipe (with inlet from wastegate and oxy sensor plug)
which Y's at the base of the car into dual pipes which run through dual cats
then through center muffler and finally out the rear muffler.
The following are my current options as I see it:
1. Do nothing (boring but cheap) - some say stock system is adequate.
2. Turbo back 3" Single pipe Scorpion Exhaust (TAP) with high flow 3"cat and
rear muffler. (Expensive!!! $1495, but a proven easy bolt on application -
those who have it with whom I have spoken like the performance (TAP claims
better flow, 17hp, lighter weight, and cooler temps up front) However, some
have claimed at certain rpms its too loud) - a mean sounding exhaust is
allright with me as long as its not unbearing on a long cruise road trip.
3. Fabricate one - I went to a local speed/ muffler shop - they priced out a
full stainless 3" system at around $800 installed ($700 if allumunized steel
is used) - it consists of cutting the downpipe as high as possible after the
wastegate inlet/oxy sensor and welding on a 3" stainless pipe which would run
through a 3" in/out performance flow cat - more 3" pipe - and then through a
3" in/out Flowmaster Rear Muffler (they said they can use certain resonator
rear muffler tips and /or a center resonator to modify sound if its too loud.
So this option is certainly less $$ but involves some cutting and pasting
and not much certainty re: sound or flow. I've talked to two other people
who have tried and liked this (one used a Borla rear muffler and the other a
B&B)- both liked the performance but claimed it was much louder than the
Scorpion setup - which they both said was quiet in comparison.
4. Try and find someone to sell me the turbo back 3" Scorpion downpipe only
(TAP will not split up its complete system) and then have the rest fabricated
as specified in option #3 above. This would allow me to keep stock system
intact when removed - in case I sell car in the future - and would prolly be
cheaper than full Scorpion system. Anyone know any sources to get Scorpion
stuff direct from Europe??
5. Lastly, I have also contacted STEBRO in Canada - they think they can
build me a bolt on system just like TAPs - but they haven't done it yet for
the S4. They have a system for the 5000 turbos. They said they can get a
car from the dealer in Ottawa and design a complete 3" stainless system for
alot less than the Scorpion. But, I have never seen their work and I'd be
the guinea pig. They are going to fax me the price/setup shortly.
Any comments/suggestions/experience would be greatly appreciated
TIA
