hmmm...don't recall saying something like that, but...I agree with Arun--I
don't think it's a valid test.  you can do this test (flat area, 1st gear,
idle) with almost any car with with a manual tranny--that's the first thing
i teach people to learn (the catch point for a clutch) when i teach them to
drive a manual tranny--works with every car i've tried it in so far!
