Power window drive motor replacement?
Dear Q-Listers,
Thanks to Al Powell's really excellent posting (5 Mar 97, Removing Door
Panels), I was able to navigate my way to the offending parts on my 1990
200 tqw -- both back door window drive motors -- which are, respectively,
frozen and fried.
Not wishing to enrich the Gods beyond their just desserts (that is, two
complete Regulator and motor assemblies @$235 each), can one simply replace
**just** the electrical drive motors? The motor is a two-wire DC gizmo
with a long shaft whose end is milled with a worm-drive gear (which looks
suspiciously like an ME-109 rudder trim tab drive motor, but the light was
too dim to see whether there was a replica of Herman Goring's mug stamped
into the barrel so I can't really say for sure). If such motors can be
replaced, is there any special, magical source and likely price? Are these
specific just to 1990 200s, or does any 5000 unit suffice?
I have done humble-time in the archives but can't find the answer. Also,
any special instructions (other than a mandatory baptism in WD-40) that I
should observe during installation?.
Used motors gladly considered if they are "young and healthy."

inch stick of pure Vermont maple wood and Duct-taped to the door frame.
Ain't comin' down till spring.)
