Phil does _not_ have a poor opinion of them. In fact, Phil is currently
getting on just fine with one and will post a recommendation if the results are
worth it. I _do_ agree that most Audi dealers are appalling at servicing fuel
injection systems.
Specifically with regard to the MB engine - I don't think it's actually worth
taking it to _ANY_ Audi dealer. I have all of the documentation available to
dealers, including the correct microfiche for the engine. It contains _NO_
metrics or recommended tests for the major components - the idle stabiliser
valve and the mechanical enrichment mechanism (control pressure regulator - NOT
the same thing as the warm-up regulator on an MB).
Two comments from very recent experience - Sanburn have a _superb_ collection
of fuel injection bits (they're dismantlers - on the UK web pages) and also
Bosch direct (if you know the Bosch part numbers - usually on the device) are
around half the price of Audi for a given part.
All in all - I'm tempted rather to _recommend_ specialist fuel injection shops
rather than disapprove of them.
