NADA national edition used vehicle guide for Jan-Apr shows a retail value
of $2925. Kelley Central edition shows $3025. The asking price is not out
of line, and keep in mind that the wearable items and typical problems are
already factored into the price the guide books give. Kelley and NADA
numbers are not scientific, but are estimates based on auction data and a
few random samples, meaning the average transaction prices will reflect
typical problems on the cars. If you factored in repair cost for the items
you mentioned, you could easily end up with an offer price of $0. Then
again, seller of used Audi's of that vintage won't have people breaking
down their door. I'd offer $2000 and see where I end up.

The problem is I don't have any idea what an "average" '84 4Kq is worth.
Kelly Blue Book lists $1400 selling, $3K buying...that helps a lot. :(
I have a budget of $2700 for this car. I want to give him a fair price,
but I also need to consider the cost of some of these repairs.

So, what do YOU consider a fair price?

Thanks,
