Why not just get a scanner from Radio Shack and tune into the state patrol
freq.  This will work for both aircraft and when one car radars and others
pick up.  I have saved myself a few times with my scanner working.  I do
know that mobile use of a scanner is illegal in some areas of the country,
check with the local person you are trying to avoid and find out for sure.
