Think I figured out wires, two power lines w/ ground (one for power,
other to signal "on") plus two "regular" speaker leads.

You are looking at a 2.8 30V? Where? Are you in America?

Not sure as I was second owner. Somebody on list said "If Bose, then
amplified", not sure if corollary holds true. Speakers are manufactured
by Nokia - why would Bose use Nokia?

Also, before you decide to go aftermarket on the stereo, you should
consider that the new, factory wide-gamma radio is one of the few head
units out there with RDS and cassette and a bunch of other features.
Plus the cool Audi logo, blinking lights, and particularly, the 3-yr
warranty cannot be ignored. To replace my older, narrower Gamma - after
the warranty has expired - I could only find Denon (DCR-930RD) to
match. Furthermore, I think the narrower normal chassis of an
aftermarket unit will look funny in the wide center console of an A4 or
A6. Maybe Becker makes something wide like that, but not sure if you
can call that "aftermarket." If buying an A4, I would go factory on the
head unit at a minimum.

Based on my test drive, I think the factory sound system on the A4 is a
major improvement over the 90 series (or is the grass greener?).
