Thanks to the fellow 91 200TQ owners for their valuable input. I called
Tritec back and insisted that 1.7-1.8 was the maximum boost. They said
that they would produce the manual page with the spec for me. I arrive
after work and they say "we were looking at the wrong year. you were
right." The boost max range for the vehicle is 1.7-1.8. In fact, the
max boost is slightly higher for sealevel vehicles (1.825) versus higher
altitudes (~1.71 all numbers from memory -> ~). Tritec said they need to
run some lengthy diagnostics to determine the problem. I looked at their
manual and the 4th fault mode was a new turbo (yikes!). The first was
"check the gas -> high octane." Yeh, I wish it was that simple. Of course,
I run high octane in the car. I also recall a potentiometer and waste gate
item on the list.
I called Eurosport about the boost. Ken basically said, "if it ain't broke
don't fix it" Hmmm... not the desired response. He also wondered whether I
was getting "anal" about the car. I think my concern is justified. I've
had the car for 1 week. Wouldn't you be concerned if the indicated
max turbo boost was half the expected maximum?
Concerned,
