It was a factory installed option. I believe it is the Yorx. European car
did a conversion for this I believe. I think the total cost was somewhere
near 5-700?
How are the quattros off a paved road? I've read many posts where some of you
have been in nasty mud, snow and dirt, and so on. I'm not interested in a
small SUV but I would like a car that can hold it's own on a rutted dirt road
and in snow and icy roads.
The 4000q is not a great off road machine. It has very low ground clearance
even when not lowered. In the snow it is unstoppable. The only thing to stop
you in the snow is ground clearance and tires. I was climbing STEEP hills in
the snow that the SUV's did not even have a chance on. I was designated snow
plow for the condoplex I am in. As long as you don't get too much snow packed
underneath it will go anywhere.
I think I remember a post on this one before, but humor me, The power
accessories - are they fairly reliable? are they mostly vaccum or electrical?
The window regulators are notoriously unreliable. However I have never had a
problem. The power locks are vacuum powered and don't tend to be a problem.
The sunroof motor is not too bad but can go bad occasionally.
Again, thanks for all your help,
Your welcome. I love my car and would not trade it for anything (in its price
range). When I get the turbo it will be a real screamer also.
