Audi Auto Transmission Repair--Low Buck
Wrote a long post on this yesterday, but, apparently did not make
it to the list.
Problem: Auto not shifting up through the gears from stop.
Mis-shifting, general feel like tranny was headed south.
Fix: Lift car and pull governor plate off left side of trans.
Remove governor cover, pull governor out. Midway dow governor shaft is a
small hole. This was plugged with a gunky substance. Clean everthing,
install [see Bentley 38.2 - 38.5], replace fluid. Works like a charm now.
Call to dealer *after* the fix describing problem, reply?
"Sounds like the transmission is going to need replaced". This is
exactly why I don't go there:) Wonder how many $3,000 tranny's have been
sold to repair this problem. This is an easy job boys. Couple hours
max, the first time. After that, 30 minutes?
