I saw the Avus at the Dutch Motorshow, I think in '93. I've lost the
photographs I took of it then, but I recall thinking it a bit overdone with
the highly-polished alu body. Over the years, my opinion has changed, and
nowadays there are several Avus scale models in my collection, including
the recently-mentioned 1:18 Revell. The shape is remarkable and ahead of
its time. It is, in short, a real Audi. Still, as a production reality, I'd
have preferred the stunning Quattro Spyder.
Can anyone tell me if the W12's a dummy or for real? None of my books has
any info on this.
Bye,
Tom
PS I've found no evidence that there were more Avus cars built than the
show car.
