The Return of the decal thread...

Hi folks,
First of all, I want to apologize to the listers who had hoped this thread
was long ago buried. I didn't mean to bring it back to life again with my
innocent post on waving to other Audi drivers while on a road trip.
However, my personal feeling is that a very simple and elegant decal placed
in the triangular C-pillar rear window is somewhat desireable. I find the
various ideas that have been posted to the list, on what the sticker should look
like, to be very amusing. It brings up the fact that we will never agree on a
single design. Although we all share a passion for these fine automobiles, I
believe there are many different "tastes" on this list. I know what I like
though, and if somebody is willing to make up some stickers that I find
attractive, I would consider putting it on.
Although my "vote" is meaningless until we have a vendor to produce the
design(s), I do hope this idea will come to fruition. Stickers on cars can be
both a nice statement and an eyesore. I don't even want to start rambling on
about "Bad-boy Club" stickers, "No-fear" stickers, or... whatever.
On a personal note, before I put on any stickers, I've got to spend some
time removing the stickers that accumulated while my father owned the car.
For your amusement, I'll tell you about them:

(1) Suny Binghamton Rear window sticker. Placed on the car when my sister
started her undergrad there. I never went there and have no plans to pursue
graduate work there. Yet.. I haven't had the time to take the darn thing off.

(2) AOPA sticker. Dad got his private pilot's license a while back and on went
the new sticker in the rear C-pillar window. Personally, I feel like any cop
who sees that little puppy on my car will start writing the ticket before he
even makes it to the driver window. "No officer, I wasn't driving fast.. just
flying low... heh.;) "

(3) Siena parking sticker in the C-pillar window. Hopefully, if I pass my
physics this semester and graduate, I won't be needing that little ditty
anymore either. Knock on wood.. knock on wood... Pray for me, eh fellas?

(4) Big FAT American flag- In the C-pillar window. I don't know what possessed
my father to put this on. He must have been feeling patriotic or something.
Don't get me wrong, or flame me, because I love this country and the freedom is
provides. However, the American flag sticker *Screams* tackiness to me.

(5) The QCUSA reward sticker. Once the freebie membership expired for pops, we
never renewed. Although, i suppose that with the new Q we are members again
until sometime this summer. I'm not home to read the newsletter though.

Now, before you all make fun of me for leaving these horrendous stickers on
such a beautiful car.. give me some credit. I did manage to remove the UCONN
sticker (from when Sis took the car to law school), which in addition to being
about the size of 3"X 5" card, was applied ungratiously to the right rear
passenger window. If I could have been there for that one.. oohh.. the earful
my sister would have gotten. I don't even want to talk about the fact that Pops
loaned her the car.. but anyway..

I even took off those
disgusting and ashamedly crooked "radio will not work when removed from car"
stickers that were on the lower portion of the driver side window!

what I'd like, hopefully before I do the summer pilgrimages to PP and Mt.
Washington, is to have only my Siena Alumni sticker in the C-pillar window.
If we manage to make up some nice Q-List stickers.. I'll slap that baby on too.
[side note: I saw a gorgeous green S6 outside the science building the other
day.. it had an alumni sticker but nothing else. I thought about sticking a
note under the windshield wiper...]

Just my long winded $0.02. I hope it entertained somebody. have a great night.
For me, it's back to work (studying that is)!
