Andy,
We had the exact same problem with our V8 this past Saturday. It usually
runs at the middle of the temperature gauge, but all of a sudden when we
stopped, the temperature quickly rose to 120 deg. C. We shut it down,
topped off all the fluids, then driove it later in the day without
incident... until we got back home. Parked it in the driveway to open the
garage door and it did it again. I drove it around town today without
problems. Hopefully it won't happen again, because I have no idea what is
causing it. A gummed up radiator is possible, but sounds unlikely, because
of the intermittant problem. BTW, we never experienced any loss of fluid.
