A little Progress - A Little long
Hey,
Last night I tried to retro-fit the head lamp assemblies from an '86
5000CS Quattro; but was sadly dissappointed. The mounting brakets are
the same dimensions, but they are about an inch and a half to far
forward. I think the design could be implemented with a homebuilt
braket; but the side marker lamps will require a bit more attention.
After I put everything back together in the front; I decided on a whim
to check how tight the bolts on my leaking valve cover were. I could not
believe it; most of them were on there only finger tight! I started to
tighten them down; but I thought maybe that might be a bad idea.
Thoughts on this anyone? I do have a new valve conver gasket; but I am
wondering should I try to solve the problem by just tightening the cover
using the existing gasket? One thing of note: how the hell does everyone
get the air filter cover off down in there. I cannot even get my hands
down onto the rear clamps.
Thanks,
Bob Dupree
