as for Phil's comment on "only 20 more hp" keep in mind that your (RoW) 10vt
ur-q got 200hp--here in the US, it only got 160. lucky bums.
as Gary pointed out, there is a fellow in the PNW who has done exactly this.
there are some pluses and minuses to this swap, compared to the 10vt swap.
On the plus side there is no need to swap the right side tie-rod to an ur-q
tie-rod--the wastegate is closer to the center of the exhaust manifold
rather than on the back end like the 10vt. If you transplant the wiring
harness and Motronic brain, it will be a quick, simple change from 217hp to
260-275 hp with a couple chip changes--try that with a 10vt! On the
downside, as both Phil & Bruce point out, these engines are much pricier
than 10vt. and it is a much more involved swap. as for the guy here in the
PNW with his troublesome car, his was not such a simple swap over--he did a
bunch of interesting things with the car in the process, so i wouldn't use
his experiences as indicative of a typical 20v swap (if there is such a
thing as typical)
