Well I have a '92 100 CSQ also (with the infamous Bose system). I am
not so sure about the "wonderful dual antenna" -- My FM reception is
often very poor - sensitivity is great, but there is a lot of
distortion and noise. Sometimes it seems to be overload distortion,
sometimes might be multi-path. I tried a different head unit (another
Blaupunkt, able to take a diversity antenna) with only minor
improvement. So I am starting to suspect that either the antenna or
the antenna booster is kaput. But maybe the entire system is simply
hopeless. In any case, my next planned experiment is to get a cheap
magnetic mount antenna and some adapters and try feeding it directly
and through the booster(s) into the head-unit and see what happens in
various configurations. If it turns out that there is mostly an
antenna problem I will eventually put in a power antenna...
Does the Sony have diversity tuning (= accepts two antennas)? Which
Sony is this?
BTW, if anyone can recommend a car stereo shop in the SF Bay Area,
willing and able to deal with Audi weirdness, I'd be grateful.
Thanks, - Andrei
