power steering pump probs

Well i went to my local library and tried to check out a bently manual,
they wouldn't let me have it cause it is a 100 dollar book, and so I
have to see it in the library! well I copied the power steering section,
and a few others (about five dollars in copies at 4cents each)anyways I
the power steering pump is making noise slightly, so does this sound
like a bearing going south, or could it just be the belt, also when I
try tightening the belt the noise gets noisier. 
any help would be much appriciated,
