Re: Opinion for 91 200 Quattro

David,

I've only owned my 91 200TQ for about 5 months now, but I'll let you know
what I've had to shell out in repairs and maint. thus far,

Today: just picked up the car from Austin (the only Audi Dealer within a
hundred miles) The car was getting funny little power spikes in the
engine causing it to misfire at around 2800 rpm, but only when the
climate control was on AUTO. Apperantly the problem was a faulty relay
which caused the compressor to disengage. They also added a diode
(anyone out there know what this diode is and why it cost me 93
dollars), but any way the diode was in some sort of "repair kit" that
Audi uses to correct this problem. Total job cost was 166 for the parts
and 166 for the labor, which to me is a small price to pay for having my
airconditioner back in the Texas heat...
I'm also comming up on my 60,000 service which they told me is "around"
$450, and, of course I need to change the timing belt at the same
time...another 450 they tell me, but...jeeeeez if they are doing the 60K
service at the same time, I would think it would be bit less expensive.
(Any Austin or central Texas listers out there...where do you get your
stuff done?)
As for parts for "do it my self" oil filters, air filters etc., I've
been ordering through Hoen Audi in Carlsbad California...you can find
thier ad in the back of most any Car Mag. They are very reasonable and
pretty friendly.
Well good luck with the 200TQ, it is a GREAT car...I think that I've got
the only one around here...gets sh*t-loads of compliments.
