My mechanic just did paid to have this done in an '86.  Cost 
him about $400, if memory serves.  Why did he pay to have it done??  
Turns out the headliner is glued to a substrate with a foam layer in 
between.  Taking it out is a razor blade procedure and re-installing 
is a real job.  (I'm quoting from memory...)  If you look in the 
Bentley, I believe it refers to "scoring and pulling out the pieces" 
as part of the replacement procedure.  EEEEeeeeeegggssssss.

He decided that the guys who specialize in this job could do it a 
whole lot better than he could, and though he winced at the cost, he 
is glad he had them do it.
