I was referring to the cam-driven vacuum pump on the NA 5-cyl. engined
4kq's and Coupes. It doesn't really fail, just gets VERY noisy,
knocking as if you had a bad connecting rod, specially in high vacuum
periods.
Of course, you can just remove the actuating rod and have the normal
engine vacuum brake assist that all other cars but Audi use.

Yes, you don't have that, but you do have a nice hydraulic
brake/steering assist system that runs on Pento$$$in!!
