My 1986 Audi 5kcst

Hi, I have a 1986 Audi 5kcst.  I find it har to start it in the morning
and afternoon.  It trys to start on the first time, but like farts-out
and nothing.  The second time it almost catches and still nothing.  The
third time, it usually catches and I am off.  I have had almost
everything replaced on this car from hoses to window motors.  I have
recently had to have the fule line hose under the car replaced because
it was leeking and this salved my old starting problems.  Now, it is as
if it has come back to haunt me again.  Has anyone ever had this problem
before?  It would be great if I could get this problem fixed myself,
since I don't have the $$$$ for it to go to the garage this week!
