Hey Fringe:
Black is an awesome color but high maintenance. My A4 is blue and
every little imperfection shows up big time. Not having a hose is
problematic because without lots of water the clear coat can be
scratch easily.

I currently use Liquid Glass polish/finish. I've used their products
for about a year with very good results. For details you can find their
propaganda on the web (www.liquidglass.com I think...).

I currently wash my car with their Wash Concentrate (i.e. car wash)
with a Boar's Hair Brush ($$$!) from Griot's Garage. When I don't
have access to a hose I rinse (before and after) using 6-8 gallons of
water from leftover gallon jugs (from Poland Spring water or whatever)
and dry. Liquid Glass polish/finish can then be applied by hand
and wiped off. (If the car is not clean or has wax residue, their
pre-cleaner must be used first.)

If you have any ???? feel free to mail direct.
