BZZZTTTTTT (I've always wanted to do that!) ... according to the review of
the car that appeared in the UK's VW/Audi magazine, the 1.8L engine was
quoted as producing 112hp @ 5800rpm and top speed was 116mph. I don't have
immediate access to the rest of my voluminous archives but if memory serves
me correctly, the ratios in this particular version of the O16 AWD gearbox
are similar to the US-spec '84 4kq except the final drive was either 4.45 or
4.90 instead of 4.11. The article quotes max speed in 2nd as 45mph, 3rd is
65mph and 4th was all of 70mph! The OEM tire size was 175/70-14, in case
anyone wants to reverse-calculate the ratio ... I'll try to find the
specific gear ratios later this weekend when I have some more time.

BTW, the reason I know all about this car is because I tried for two years
to find one of these gearboxes to use in the 4k racecar I'm building ...
they're about as rare as hen's teeth in europe and I finally made the
decision to modify the bellhousing of a 4kq gearbox instead as it would be a
lot cheaper. Of course, I have since decided to use a 5-cylinder motor so I
never actually got around to this but two of the bolt holes are the same
between the 4- and 5-cyl. motors/bellhousings and adapting it to fit looked
pretty straightforward.
