You should see what's in it first. If it's like the average oil
additives, it contains Teflon or PTFE or something else that I can't
remember. There was an interesting article on the web that did a pretty
in-depth look into oil additives, and the outcome was: don't use any,
they'll do more harm than good.
As for running the engine without oil: One of the tests mentioned in the
article was done by Briggs & Straton (sp?) like the ones on TV, where
they have oil in one and oil and an additive in the other, ran them,
drained the oil, ran them again, and found that though both engines ran
for about the same time afterwords, the engine that had the additive was
in worse shape than the one without.
