Re: CIS Temp

In a message dated 97-05-14 04:20:09 EDT, you write:

effects (32 F vs. 60 F would make the meter off by 2.8%). Pulsed
injection systems typically correct for air temp; I haven't seen this
correction on CIS, and don't know why not! (Well, except that it's not
there...) Altitude is typically compensated for in CIS.

CIS turbos compensate for air temp Dave, just after the turbo and IC, since
it could care less what temp is at the meter, just what is going INTO the
t-body, and Charge Air systems are much more sensitive to ambient temp
changes. I think the reason you don't find all N/A CIS with air temp
correction is that I doubt the "flap" metering is, or was designed to be as
accurate as EFI. Small changes in air temp can be compensated by the lambda
circuit, lower temp = more O2 in exh = lambda increases fuel return to tank >
reducing lower chamber pressure = richens mixture. Don't give CIS too much
credit, it has been referred to by many as a "german carb"... An effective
toy, more so than the rochester, but hardly an EFI Mass Air opponent.

Nice Post on Mass Air, btw.
