RE: 4000Q noise after timing belt replacement
I have had this same problem with mine, TWICE. Each time it was after
I replaced the belt myself. The first time I just lived with it, and
after many many miles, it went away, just in time for the next belt
change interval. So, I changed the belt, and it is back. It's really
frustrating, because I think I am being attentive to details, but what
is it? I thought I had the belt too tight, so I loosened it a bit.
that seemed to help a little, but I am hesitant to make the belt any
looser. The Bentley idea of being able to turn it 90 degrees "by
hand" is a little vague. I mean, what if I am a particularly strong
or weak person? They ought have a tool to do it like a 944. But I'm
rambling. Perhaps the problem is not tension related at all. What
else could it be?? This could be an intriguing thread if it gets
rolling! By the way, I have only used cam belts from the dealer.
