Yes
The problems with 134 are: not nearly as efficient - especially in a
retrofit, and most importantly: not compatible with R-12 refrigerant oil
(sludges). Requires a complete flush - sometimes multiple flushes. I have
been in several new 134 car and conversions - the temp coming out of the
dash doesn't come close to a decent R-12 system.

FR-12 is compatible with R-12 oil. The main problem is it's TOO efficient!
If you're not using it in an extreme climate (Arizona, Texas, deep south) it
can cause freezeup. One article discussed 'frozen moisture particles' coming
from the vent.
