Hi-po ignition system?

Well, my 93 90CS has been getting worse than usual milage lately, and
has been giving a "rotten egg" smell from the exhaust, so I'm guessing
maybe spark plugs or wires.

But while I was pondering this, my mind wandered a little (not uncommon
for me) to an article I read about a high-performance ignition system.
This system would deliver some 50-70Kv to each plug, allowing you to
widen the spark gap, have a bigger spark, and therefore (theoretically)
better combustion, cleaner emmisions, and better mileage. I got
thinking more about this, and came up with some questions:

1. There are two ways to go about this--high-performance coil, or a
capacitive-discharge system. The capacitive discharge system
supposedly gives better performance. The coil upgrade, however, is much
much simpler. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
2. If I were to opt for the capacitive discharge system, I would have to
know what type of ignition system I have, ie a standard Kettering
system?
3. This could possibly cause problems with the spark plug wires, since I
don't know what voltage they're rated at but they do have that 1Kohm
resistance.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Elliott

PS I know this is off the topic, but there was another article that
could tell you if your A/C is leaking freon by the temperature of air
coming out of it. The idea was to let you know there's a problem before
it gets too big, so you can maybe save some $$$ (or £££ or whatever) in
freon costs. If anyone's interested I can dig it out and see what it
involves.
