Tire thoughts

There's been some talk here in the last couple days about Pirelli P6's, which 
(as I recall) are out of production but may still be available at some tire 
dealers. I'd think twice about buying discontinued tires. I had an experience 
a couple years ago where a tire fell victim to a road hazard and I couldn't 
find a replacement in the same brand, model, and size. I would up having to 
buy 2 new tires (different brand) so I could at least have matched tires on 
each axle. On an AWD car this probably wouldn't have been an acceptable 
solution. Suggestion: if you must buy discontinued tires, get a full set of 5, 
including spare!
