Re: COOLANT STILL EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a head gasket go bad on me once (not the Audi, I must say). It
started with the radiator loosing water unusually fast - through the
pressure relief valve on the cap. After a few weeks of refilling the
radiator every morning, I began to see some brown milky residue :(
Needless to say, I changed the head gasket at that point.
My theory is that some of the combustion gasses were leaking into the
coolant, raising the pressure (and temperature!) of the cooling system.
Ultimately, the gasket deteriorated enough for oil to leak into the
water as well. I say that if you still have water pouring out of the
reservoir cap even with a new cap (they aren't that expensive), and the
rad. fan is working, it's time for a new head gasket (my condolences).
