Hey List,

I just found out this morning via email that my old '85 Coupe GT that I
sold only a week or so ago is already totalled. At late last
night/early this morning, some kids speeding in a Ford Ranger ran a red
light and hit the rear quarter panel, spinning the car and doing much
damage. THEN, as they were talking with the police and taking a report,
ANOTHER guy, this time a drunk driver, come flying into the Coupe,
causing even more damage and sending the trunk lid flying, almost
hitting some people. The car was knocked into both Robert (the buyer
and new/ex owner), and a passenger in the Ranger.

No one was seriously hurt, thank God and Germany for Audi.

I had just met him after work yesterday to give him the lower headlight
brackets that were missing when I sold him the car, and the little
plastic horn button retaining clip that breaks when you take it off
hastily. He showed me his new cat-back exhaust with two slanted but
straight cut tips, all painted black like a stock q exhaust. Looked
nice. He had painted some panel that were primer, and fixed a big
dent. It was really coming along. We were discussing the TAP ur-q body
kit over some pictures I brought.

It's incredible. I can hardly believe it! He credits the Audi (and his
racing instinct, which was to gas it to get out of the way and not get
T-boned) with saving his life, and so do I.

It's a shame, I really wanted to see that car become something. He
really was developing a passion for it. He says he will get only
another Audi. Hopefully, if he gets a settlement or something, he'll
get something really nice.

Anyways, just thought I'd share this Audi victory/tragedy. A moment of
silence please for another lost hero.

Regards,

Ken
