Re: HELP....My 90'CQ leaking green stuff and the a/c compressor won't engage.......
Re: Questions Re: Trouble shooting Ac leaks in a 90 coupe. I found that
there are many places from which leaks can occur, particular at connections
from one component to another. These are usually made via rubber hoses or
copper lines and are sealed by o-rings. which may harden or degrade, and
the connections may loosen. CRACKS OR HOLES CAN OCCUR IN THE CONDENSOR, OR
THE EVAPORATOR, AND DIRT AND MOISTURE WILL MIX WITH THE FREON TO CREATE
ACIDS that will in time destroy the compressor, and other metal items in
the system. The evaporator I found impossible to remove even with the Help
of Bentley, and it was difficult for the A/C pro as well. The other com
ponents were relatively easy to R and R .The test for leaks if there is
freon in the system, is done via an eletronic sniffer, and is a quick and
easy way to spot leaks. The easiest way to spot leaks at the compressor and
at hose connections is to look for oil leaks which if they're old, will be
encrusted with dirt.
