30 valve 2.8 A4
Well, on the way home from dinner, I checked out the new 30 valver (visual
only) at the dealer. Parked next to my 12 valve A4q, it is obvious to see
that the sport suspension lowers the car. However, and this is a personal
thing, and not meant to rile the new A4 30 valve owners out there, the car
almost looks like the tires and wheels are too tiny, like they belong on a
Fiesta. The wheels, IMHO, are uglier than my 5 spoke ones, and the 8 spokes
make the wheel look small. It is the same size as mine, I believe, but it
looks tiny, as if they are the base 1.8t wheel size. This makes the car look
lower, sure, but also like one of those lowered pick-up trucks in Las Vegas
and California with the tiny tires!
The car had pearlescent (sp?) white paint, leather, BOSE, sunroof, cold
weather, sport package, quattro and topped out at $35k and change. Wow. I
hope AoA is careful and doesn't start pricing the car too high, a la WMB.
That is getting into (but at the WAAAAY bottom of) 328i territory. And, from
what I heard at the New York City car show, a tiptronic A4q, loaded, will be
on the high side of $37/$38 k. OUCH!
