A4tqw?
** High Priority **
Re: A4 1.8tqw coming to the states.
I'm glad we can discuss this...I've tried to bring it before the
group in the past...
I'll be buying a new wagon next year. Period. VAG will be offering
two viable options: (a) A4 2.8 Qtro and (b) VW Pst Syncro.
Obviously, these two cars will be similar enough to overlap on some
buyers' preferences. This is going to prolly make it tough for us
Audi (and/or VW) enthusiasts.
I love the look of the A4 Avant and will consider one if offered in
the 1.8tqw setup. However, most info points to the 2.8 w/ tip trans
being offered late Fall '97. Will be some time (if ever) that other
models are offered. We know they are being made in GER only from
Auto Shows, i.e. Paris, Zurich, etc..pictures. However, can only see
1.8t (no q) on official sources, i.e. www.
I am seeing a different story from the VW side. Already making
Passats with both the 2.8 30v & the 1.8t in Syncro versions. I've
been so happy with my '86 Qtm Syn that it would be tough to turn down
the bigger and less expensive VW, especially when you see the interior
accessories: Cooled "glove box" for drinks, snacks, 8^)....automatic
cell phone armrest - when ringing, case opens to reveal phone...neat
stuff. But exterior less acctractive IMO than A4. Also will most
likely be summer '98 at earliest for any Avant version, maybe later
for Syncros.
So let the debate begin...what is Audi going to do? Will they bring
both the A4 and the Pst Syn into the states...YES! Will they offer
both wagons only with the 2.8 30v...NOT LIKELY with both vehicles
already so close to one another. What are you fellow wagon lovers
going to do?
