Back to basics
Well, it seems after posting some C-O vs "kit" questions, then promply
leaving to join some qheads at Mid OH q-club event, you kids have been busy
again. My usual Q-club report will follow, not quite as exciting as
Stapleton, but good clean fun. I smiled at most of the posts, picked out
just a couple representative:
Randall:
Context problem again, sir. A further read in the same dictionary would
summarize "my" version of Emeritus - One who has been honorably discharged
from public service, usually (but doesn't have to be) applied to a member of
a profession, and I claim, by default, by my infirmity. That is defined
later in same, the definition I took for my Car & it's Driver (since being
"blown into the weeds" from a 'claim' long ago) of being weak and not sound
mentally or physically. A "claim" I will always boast, otherwise I wouldn't
own a q :~)
Dan S.
Apologies for stirring up the **it in your absence, my keyboard doesn't
always reflect my appreciation of your efforts.
To ALL Engineers.
Sanitation Engineers are self proclaimed too. A good point. However, my
understanding has always been that one MUST be a member of a Professional
Engineering Society (SAE comes to mind immediately in this context) in order
to be "paid" as an Engineer, including and especially, as presented by
Claimant. This, Bruce, could be an issue to the Board of Professional
Regulation (or equivelant) in any state, or from SAE, or a couple others. My
father was on one of those "verification" teams years ago, hence my
"suggestion" that it be deleted from .sig. Sorry that it came off more
cynical than humorous, latter intended, but worthy of serious consideration
by claimant.
On numbers:
I post many a question, and Brendan in my absence, cuz a couple of us, and
SEVERAL Race Teams and Vendors, that have done this coil over thing (albiet
infirmed in TOTAL ignorance) go "hunh?" The shortcomings of Eric's kits
create some questions too, never answered. I had that "kit" on my car.
Since I know it's roots, I question a lot of the claims made. The front
camber question burns hard in more than a few folks minds. So does the need
for rear "spacers".
Now, let me mellow this tone by DISCLAIMING the following: I have not sold
1, not 1 coil over kit, nor do I have any desire or intention to ('specially
now, heck IT's WRONG!!!). Ok, PDQSHIP had coil overs in it when it was sold.
3 sets were made, 1 set sits in my office, one on PDQSHIP, and one on Carl
Jerritts Beast. More than a few on this list figgrd out on their own what
Eric's kit is, and have remained silent, maybe for the same reason I get the
lambasting for hard questions. Eric can (or maybe can't) come to a qclub
event and put all his "claims" to rest, a lap time will do. I smile at the
thought. Eric can post his coil and shock numbers, but doubt he will. Could
be a problem doing that. I could for him, but then I would be the bad guy
again. This issue is in St Louis, not here.
Shrewed marketing. I deal with it in my real job EVERY day. When I see it
here or at the computer "tuners," my questions are quick, hard, and
controversial. I listen to a lot of folks about q experiences. Some of the
more curious buy into marketing for a while, then DISCOVER things. Live and
learn. I'd pay 200USD more at a qclub event for learning that btdt. I
listened to Gary Palumbo at Mid-OH on "chips" today. Ouch!!! Those
considering a computer mod, could give HIM a call.
Putting up takes more balls than typing that you have them of Barium. I do
the former at every track event, and with every mod. Whether it works or
not, I can laugh at myself (and hope this post does) for being one goofy,
and obviously, and CLAIMED ignorant, passionate q head. With WAAAY too many
... questions. And absolutely NO claimed credentials, just a resume. Well
OK-then. Off to the 'infirmry' I go. Hope to see ya'll while I'm
putt-putting around the track someday.

"Audi Chassis Engineer, Emeritus, Emerods Eminentia Infirmity" - hence
dropped, never "comfortable" with the consequenses of the title :)
