link rod for 90/Coupe?
Hi,
I need your expert opinion again, especially from 1990-92 90/Coupe
owners.
Recently, my 1990 CQ has this creaking/rubbing noise coming from the
front end when I steer at low speeds. Maybe the sound is still there
at high speeds but I can't hear it because of engine noise. Anyway,
when the noise occurs, I don't feel any vibration through the steering
wheel. It's just noise. I am absolutely sure it's not CV joint or
wheel bearing related.
I took the car to an Audi dealer and they diagnosed as worn link
rods. I checked the factory manual and it says that all post 1990 models
have the link rod between the shock absorber mount and the stabilizer bar.
(The pre 1990 models had it between the control arm and the stabilizer bar.)
So it kind of make sense that in my 90 CQ, stress is applied to the link
rods when I steer the car. I would just like to know what you guys think
about the dealer's diagnosis.
Thanks a lot.
