Wet Suits for Audi's
Folks,
Recent weather in Denver has given me heart attacks. Hail yesterday, some the
size of golf balls. My recently painted '83 TQC was supposed to be in a covered
garage but other half had chosen to use it and park in an open lot.
She was thoughful enough to fetch it in the midst of the barrage and park it
under a pedestrian cross over in a downtown alley. The hail that did come down
was more snowball than ice so... no damage! Whew!
This has re-instilled my desire to fabricate a neoprene wet suit for the car.
Purchased the material several months ago and just haven't gotten around to the
sewing/attachement work to existing car cover.
The material is 1/4 inch closed cell wet suit material which will lay over the
body panels. I'm also stitching a row along the side to protect against door
opening dings in parking lots.
What do you folks think?
Is this a viable idea. Probably won't protect against the winshield smashing
hail we sometimes get but sure seems like it would give folks an extra measure
of protection from the rain gods that dominate our climate in June. I have
access to very high density neoprene as well. Only problem is bulk.
I'd love some feadback. What would you pay for this kind of protection? Is bulk
an issue.
Cheers
