metal or plastic radiator ??'s

Hey List,

There's an '81 Audi 5+5 in the junkyard today. It's got a metal
radiator, while my 4ksq has a plastic one. They want $45 outright.

I'm thinking that in the future, I might wish I had a metal one. For
example, when and if it needs to be rodded out, the plastic one will be
either impossible or more expensive to do. Also, I hear the metal one's
are better.

Should I bother? The quattro isn't even gonna be running until at least
the end of the month. I'm the type of guy that likes to be prepared,
and like's to replace things preventatively, if that helps the answer.
Oh, and I also have the C-GT that could benefit, too. I'm in the sunny
(read: hot-ass) California desert.

BTW, the body's mostly straight. They really are nice looking cars. I
believe the hood and front fenders will fit a 4k/C-GT, and the front
(only) doors will fit a 4k (is that right guru's?). They have vent
windows in the doors for anyone looking for some "one-offness" for their
4k.
