I have a question along the same line. When my 97 A4 1.8t was delivered
the dealer told me to absolutely NOT change the oil that is in the engine
before 5000 miles. He said something about Audi strongly encouraging you
not to change before that time, but after that (5000 or the scheduled
7500 change) you can change as often as you want.
His rational was something about the metal in the engine parts, and the
wear that occurs early on in the engines' life.
I do not know, was a little skeptical myself.
Thanks.
