Moving to the UK

If it's feasible, it's probably the best thing to do.  It has the added
advantage that the clutch master cylinder is _much_ easier to change if
he has to do it, and an LHD car of the right vintage _might_ even be
exportable to the USA.  I drove an LHD on British roads for over a year
in the mid-1980s, and never found it a real problem.
