everthang tew yew?  Now yew jist pay tenshun an' Ah'll go threw this one
more tahm.  :-)

The function of that "different" pedal arrangement is so that after a
specified designed life-time the plastic hinge will break off and then you
either drive with the broken pedal, improvise a "fix", or (Audi's
preference) pay them big bucks to replace the whole assembly.

Now wuzn't thet simple, Sean?  :-)
