Center Driveshaft Bearing

Hi folks,
   A while back I posted that I was about to replace my center-driveshaft
bearing. My mechanic claimed he could get the part without the entire
driveshaft. I was pleasantly surprised. 
   I waited too long and now he tells me that his source no longer carries the
part. SO, if I want it done it's gotta be the whole darn thing. 
   Anybody have any sources on the bearing alone? I believe I read of
somebody's experience in this matter. Any BTDTs? Thanks.
